Full-Stack / Backend DeveloperAvailable for freelance

Hi, I'm Abin T H.

Building systems that scale beyond the demo.

A full-stack engineer with a backend focus. I design, build and run production software, from service architecture and APIs to cloud infrastructure and the interfaces people actually use.

01About

I build the whole system, not just the ticket.

I'm a self-driven software engineer with around 4.5 years of experience across company and freelance work, building for clients and for products. I'm most at home in backend engineering: service design, data models, APIs and the infrastructure they run on. I'm comfortable taking a system from architecture all the way to deployment.

The interesting problems usually live between the layers: how a frontend talks to an API, how services hold up when traffic spikes, and how a release reaches production safely. That's where I like to work.

03Experience

Around 4.5 years of shipping production software.

Full-stack engineering on client and product work since January 2024, built on a year and a half of freelance work, with backend systems, cloud infrastructure and end-to-end delivery running through both.

    SDE 2 · Full-Stack Developer

    Company name withheld · Confidential

Full-stack engineering at a company that builds software for clients alongside its own products, shipping production systems used by real customers.

    • Owned the backend and AWS infrastructure of an event platform supporting ~150K concurrent users at peak, sustaining <200 ms API responses at ~5K req/sec: 5 Spring Boot services on autoscaling ECS Fargate
    • Designed and built the core of an algorithmic trading platform: separate backtesting and live engines on the same strategy code, 7 broker integrations, 5× faster WebSocket trade feeds and 6× faster backtests
    • Owned the event-driven serverless backend (AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, SST) of a loyalty platform for a global brand, serving 100K+ users
    • Built an editorial and publishing platform for an industry association across backend, frontend, CMS and infrastructure, and contributed to a logistics platform
    • Now evolving the event platform into a standalone product
    • Mentor junior developers, review the team's code, and set up CI/CD pipelines and engineering standards

06Architecture mindset

Thinking past the code.

Every layer of a system makes promises to the layers around it. Pick a concern to see what I look for at each layer.

Select a concern

“Design for the peak, pay for the average.”

  2. 02

    Frontend

    React / Next.js · CDN-cached assets

Static assets served from a CDN so traffic spikes don't reach the origin.

  3. 03

    API Gateway / Backend

Routing · AuthN / AuthZ · Validation · Rate limits

Stateless request handling, so any instance can serve any request.

  4. 04

    Services

Domain services · Background workers · Stateless containers

Services scale horizontally and independently, each based on its own load.

  5. 05

    Database · Cache · Queues

    PostgreSQL / MySQL · Redis · Queues · DynamoDB / MongoDB

Hot reads served from Redis; slow work moved onto queues.

  6. 06

    Cloud Infrastructure

    AWS ECS / Fargate · Autoscaling · S3 · CloudFront · CI/CD

Container tasks on ECS / Fargate that scale out for peak traffic and back in afterwards.

A reference architecture: the general shape of the production systems I build, not a diagram of any specific client system.

07Impact

Real systems. Real usage.

Have a system worth building?

A new platform, a service that needs to scale, or infrastructure that needs untangling. I'd like to hear about it.
